Barossa Mall

Our Barossa Mall extension is now open offering an exciting expansion of retail choice in the Barossa. Barossa Mitre 10, a Telstra shop and the Nuriootpa Post Office have already opened and we expect to announce another three new tenants shortly. Further to this we are currently renovating the former Carpet Court store at 11 Murray St Nuriootpa which will be occupied by a new tenant shortly.

Department Store Redevelopment

Our fashion department store is located on our original site in the centre of the main shopping street. We propose to renovate this building by incorporating a mall and a selection of new tenancies to reinvigorate and complement our own retail offer on this valuable site. All main street traders should benefit from our efforts to re invest in the town centre thereby lifting foot traffic opportunity. Works should commence later this year.

Summary

The current retail market is difficult, fuelled by community concerns over interest rates and the plight of our local Wine Industry. The south Australian retail industry has engaged in heavy discounting in a battle to maintain market share which has influenced financial results.

In spite of these conditions we look forward to a promising future as we manage our significant investment in retail infrastructure. We are determined to ensure that our Co-operative members are well serviced in the Barossa with expanded competitive retail choice.
